Internet Marketing in 2015 - A Speculative Look into the Future

Presently, internet marketing is proving to be a practical, recession proof strategy. The expansiveness of the internet present it with enough flexibility that it can survive a number of ups and downs in the market. However, there are those that may wonder if the capability to stay profitable will eventually become elusive. After all, nothing lasts forever and internet marketing is sure to attain its limitations, will it not? Well, while it would not be logical to make extensive statements of the affirmative, it would be logical to say that internet marketing will be winning in some form as long as there is an internet and as long as people are open to purchasing things. Remember, the internet is a medium for communications. Marketing is a means of promote the sale of something. Such concepts are so simple and basic and essential that any assumptions about the collapse of internet marketing would be somewhat obtuse.

HOWEVER . . . it would also be logical to assume that lots of current aspects of internet marketing will probably change dramatically in the future. For example, the current approach of internet marketing is based on link building and keywords. Now, there is nothing wrong with this approach but it is presently based exclusively on how search engines rank sites to gauge popularity. However, this idea could change in the future if search engines find a better method to decide site popularity. Also, if a new, radical search engine concept is developed then internet marketing will have to follow the lead of the recently popular search engine. And, yes, the popularity of a search engine can decline. A decade ago, InfoSeek was a top search engine. Today, it is a virtual non-entity and internet marketers thoroughly release it.

Similarly, it is achievable that Google Page Rank will be de-emphasized. This is mainly because nothing lasts forever and as more and more search engines grow in reputation combine with non-search engine reliant mediums, it is doubtful that Page Rank will preserve its popularity. This popularity has been on the refuse steadily for the past few years and it does not look like an upswing in reputation will be forthcoming any time soon.

Also, the growth of social networks will certainly have an impact on the way internet marketing is promote in the future. How exactly social networking will tweak traditional marketing is not yet know. However, it would be safe to say that marketing strategies will consistently be more targeted and personal since social networks are based on common interests and causes. Currently, most marketing involves promotional websites which are somewhat clean in comparison to websites. With more emphasis on the "personal touch" of social networking sites, it would be somewhat predictable that internet marketing strategies were more personalized as well.

Once again, internet marketing will constantly be part of the online landscape. However, the internet marketing of today will possibly be replaced by new concepts that develop in the future. So, while the process may remain, the face will vary. And, quite frankly, this should come as no surprise.
